Good morning, All- I quick reminder, to start the news bulletin,
that our weekly meeting on Thursday, June 19th will
be at Lincoln Park at 5:30pm. This will be more of a social
meeting so feel free to bring family members. Our meal will be
provided by Two Rivers Convention Center.
On June 12th we were warmly greeted by Don Teets and
Daryl Pridy. Thank you so much for the smiles, handshakes and
hugs. You were terrific. President Kristin opened our meeting
by welcoming all and then Rich Emerson led us as we sang “If I
Knew You Were Coming-I’d Baked A Cake”. Brad Krebill delivered
a wonderful invocation and then our guests were introduced.
Rick Nisley brought Jim with him again and it looks like Jim
will become a member of our club again. Darlene Hallmark
introduced her guest Roger Van Horne; Rich Emerson introduced
Greg Stevens as his guest; Daryl Pridy brought his two kids with
him this week; Sandy Barger introduced her daughter, Courtney;
and Key Club Member Bob introduced his sister Misty.

Bucks were paid by Steve Thompson, Don Teets for the money
collected for Dolphin Swim Meet and for a Kiwanis Ad in the
paper; Larry Beckner paid a happy buck for the great invocation
that Brad delivered; Kristi Adams for the First Place position
that her 11 year old took in_____?; Brad Krebill for the kick
off of American National Bank Downtown Farmers Market that
evening; Blaine Scott for the apartments that Catholic Outreach
has opened for those in need; Vern Gray for the Boston Celtic’s
win; Jessica Miracle for the fact that she has the opportunity
to teach dance to a great group of kids; and Lynne Sorlye was
happy about the National League Champs, Rockies, win.
Fine Master Rita Crumpton was in great form this week. Bob
Burger was recognized for his appointment to the Clifton Water
District’s Board of Directors and he was fined because he didn’t
list Kiwanis as his “first” mention in the article; Stewart was
fined for gloating; Steve Thompson was fined for never fining
Stewart; Don Teets was fined for collecting money for the
Dolphin Swim Team during the last week of Pancake Day
Collection; Paula Voytilla and Shaunalee Wall were fined for
laundry delivery during our meeting; Vern Gray was fined for
something; Gabe DeGabriele was fined for stealing Alvin and Brad
Krebill was fined for not saying “Hi” to Rita.
Stacy Mascarenas delivered our Board Report. She announced that
Jon Wickre and Doug Stack have resigned from our club. Cathy
Staten stated that our club is financially healthy and that the
IRS letters for our Corporate Sponsors are in the mail. A new
host is still needed for Camp Kiwanis; please see Greg Schaefer
if you are interested and need more information. A new policy
was announced about political candidates speaking at our club
meeting. We are in need of two delegates and two alternates for
this year’s convention.
Dennis Durmas, Brad Krebill and Jessica Miracle spoke about
Pancake Day that was happening the very next day. Greg Schaefer
spoke more about the need for a host at Camp Kiwanis. This
could possibly be a live-in caretaker and Greg does have a
couple of candidates. Hilltop will finish the water project as
promised.
Mailyn D’Aponti spoke about ticket sales this week. We sold
$3,140.00 in tickets and the total of those sales is at
$14,651.50. We still don’t know where the .50 comes from. The
Grand Prize for most ticket sold is two tickets to Country Jam
2008. Top sellers this week were Mike Stahl ($250.00), Alan
Watkins ($240.00) and Jim Moore ($220.00). President Kristin
thanked everyone for all of there help is pulling off another
successful Pancake Day.
Rick Nisley gave Sally Ryan $43.00 as this weeks raffle winner.
Our “Joke of the Day” came from Tony Colaizzi. Paul Miller
delivered our Defining Statement with a “Pancake” twist at the
end and received the $5.00 this week. And to wrap our meeting
up, Larry Beckner with our “Thought for the Day”
