Kiwanis Bulletin

March 20, 2008

It was a beautiful spring day in Grand Junction on Thursday and we were warmly greeted single handedly by Tammie Rupe.  I believe that Bob Burger was supposed to be with Tammie but his absence was definitely felt.  Tammie did a great job as our official greeter. President Kristin opened our meeting by welcoming all and asked for volunteers to come up to the front of the room to help as we sang “Easter Parade”.  Our volunteers were Orville Petersen, Jim Corley, Jeff Freeland, Terry Wakefield, Greg Schaefer, Mike Moran, Wes D’Aponti and Omar Campos.  Terry Wakefield led the group, which was decked out in beautiful Easter bonnets, as we all sang “Easter Parade”.  The gentlemen added to the performance as they danced the can-can while they sang. Great Job, Guys!!Dave Kearsley delivered our invocation and with that we were off and running.

Kristi Pollard introduced Curtis Moore and Alan Watkins introduced Ryan Cross as their guests this week.  Members of this week’s birthday club are Mailyn D’Aponti celebrating her birthday on March 19th and Roxie Denning (that’s me) will celebrate on March 22nd

Nicole Silvano from Central High School introduced her mom, Wendi and her sponsor Nicole.  Nicole has ambitions that will send her to the nursing program of a fine college in Colorado.  From Palisade High School comes Libby Holsan. Libby introduced her parents Vickie and Ken Holsan and her sponsor.  As an art major, Libby hopes to attend one of three colleges that have made her offers in Colorado.  Libby’s sponsor spoke about her positive attitude and her abilities as a leader.
