Kiwanis Bulletin

July 26, 2007

Each week President Wes gives me an outline of our meeting and as I looked at this week’s outline I saw that Vikki Bell and Eric Lusby were scheduled to be our greeters.  I thought back to who was actually at the front door greeting us as we came in and it was Joe Breman and Paul Miller. Thank you both for filling in for our missing Kiwanians.  We were led in song by Blaine Scott as we sang “God Bless America” and Paul Miller delivered our invocation as he very cleverly included our defining statement in the invocation.  Good job, Paul.

Mailyn D’Aponti introduced her daughter, Adrianna as her guest this week and Mike Kelly brought his wife Michelle and their daughter Brittany along with Mike’s partner Paul Cruz to lunch.  Happy Bucks were paid by Tony Colaizzi, Barbara Lovett, Jessica Miracle and Mike Kelly.

Amy Dyer and Don Teets auctioned Silent Auction items left over from Pancake Day.  Joe Breman purchased pens, Ron Sherman acquired a wooden golf cart, Sally Ryan, Larry Beckner and Mike Kelly purchased three small wooden saws, Bill Byers is the proud owner of a JUCO package, Wes D’Aponti added a set of wooden horse bookends to his collection, LeAnn Zetmeir purchased an Alps Mountain Tent, Adrianna got the St Mary’s package consisting of a jacket and mug, Marilee Langfitt-Wood got a planter for her home, Dave Kearsley purchased a “God Bless America” rug, Dennis Durmas got a gift certificate for a massage and Heather Smith purchased a skill-saw.  Thank you all for your contributions to a great cause.

Ron Sherman was our Fine Master this week.  Those on his list were Bob Burger, Lynn Sorlye, Jim Corley and Jessica Miracle.

Rick Adelman introduced our guest speaker this week.  Tim Foster, President of Mesa State College spoke to us about the college, where they have been, all that they have done and what is still to be done in the future.  Tim’s presentation was great and gave us a lot of details on the future of Mesa State College.

Eric Field was up next with the Movie Trivia of the Week and the winner of the $5.00 was Alan Watkins.  Good job, Guys!

Our “Thought for the Day” was delivered by Rick Adelman and Wes D’Aponti adjourned our meeting. The group was light in number this week and the meeting was direct and to the point.

Until next week…..Roxie Denning, Bulletin Editor
