Kiwanis Bulletin

March 8, 2007

This week we kicked off our New Membership Drive and our greeters were members of that Committee. Wes opened our meeting by welcoming all Kiwanians and their guests. As we sang “Springtime in the Rockies” we were led by Rich Emerson. Jim Corley delivered our invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Wes D’Aponti.

We had a great turn out of guests this week. Thank you to all of the Kiwanians that brought someone to lunch. Ron Sherman introduced Peggy Page and Lee Young, Kiwanians that are unable to attend lunch on a regular basis. Vic Pauley brought Todd Igo, Ben Watkins introduced Sarah, Pete Jouflas brought Jerry Woodruff, Kristin Winn introduced her guest and Don Teets brought his daughter, Deanna. Randy Kirschbaum introduced Paula Botella, Blaine Scott brought Anni Rigo, John Wickre’s guest was Sandra Stanley, Orville Petersen brought Karen Troester and Jessica Miracle and Joe Breman brought a young man from Israel by the name of Guy. Betsy Madden introduced Laurie Rouche, Michele Heiser’s guest was Shauna, Bob Colony brought Rick Abernathy, LeAnn Zetmeir brought Barbara Lovett, Bob Hanson brought his son, Rob and Stacey Mascarenas introduced Skip Hudson. After this very lengthy introduction of our guests we sang the Kiwanis Welcome Song led by Rich Emerson.

Dennis Durmas celebrated his birthday on March 10th and we had the pleasure of singing to him. He received it pretty well.

Happy Bucks this week were paid by Wes D’Aponti, Don Teets, Randy Kirschbaum, Rick Nisley, Bob Stratton, Bob Colony, Peggy Page, Jeff Cyriacks, Jon Wickre, Mike Kelly, Orville Petersen, Bob Hanson and Dennis Durmas. Thank you all for your financial contribution.

Our Fine Master this week was the exciting Rita Crumpton. She placed fines on Peggy Page, Lee Young, Ron Sherman (Rick Nisley paid this one for Ron), Golden K Members Rich Emerson, Bob Hanson, Don Teets and Gordon Harbert, Jeff Freeland, Jeff Cyriacks, Daryl Pridy, Bill Byers, Tom Sheldon and Wes D’Aponti. This was quite the list for fines. Good job, Rita!!

Next on the agenda was Wes D’Aponti and his talk about his Kiwanis Experience. Thank you for sharing this with us, Wes.

Our program this week was led by LeAnn Zetmeir, Chairperson of the Membership Committee. LeAnn played the video called “One Can Make a Difference” . LeAnn spoke about the importance of our club and all of the good that we do in our community. LeAnn introduced our Lt. Governor Rich Emerson and he gave a dynamic speech to the audience about the importance of our mission as Kiwanians. Rick Nisley spoke about the projects that we are involved in, Betsy Madden talked about the “Young Women of the Month” and Shaunalee Wall spoke on behalf of the “New Member” and what it means to her to be a Kiwanian. Larry Beckner, as a longstanding member of the club, gave a humorous and heartfelt speech about what it means to be a Kiwanian. Orville Petersen spoke about the allocation of funds raised by Kiwanis Events.

Wes D’Aponti announced that Wednesday, March 14th at 5:15 our next Pre-Induction Orientation will take place. The location is the Holiday Inn on Horizon Drive and this will be conducted by Don Teets.

Dave Harris presented $10.00 to Ben Watkins. Ben had the magic number for his handshake as he welcomed Dave into our club. Don Teets delivered our “Thought for the Day” and we were adjourned by Wes at 1:30.

Until next week…..Roxie Denning, Bulletin Editor

Correction from last week’s Bulletin. I stated that Michele Heiser was the Chairperson for Corporate sales and that actually belongs to Bob Colony.
