The
greeters
this
week
seemed
to be
“fill
in’s”
for
absent
greeters.
Those
people
were Wes
D’Aponti,
Guy
Stephens
and
yours
truly,
Roxie
Denning.
We were
led in
song by
Rich
Emerson
and our
invocation
was
given by
LeAnn
Zetmeir.
Thank
you all
for your
contributions
this
week.
Wes
opened
our
meeting
with
welcome
to all
and his
One
Minute
Education
Spot. I
think
that the
one
piece of
information
that
keeps
surfacing
in this
spot is
the fact
that in
1987
delegates
of the
Kiwanis
International
Convention
voted to
admit
women
into
membership.
This is
quite an
accomplishment
and one
that I
personally
applaud.
There
were a
few
guests
this
week.
Stacey
Mascarenas
brought
Beverly
Troester.
I truly
see this
guest
with an
application
in hand
next
week,
don’t
you? Wes
D’Aponti
brought
his
sister,
Brenda
Watson;
Brad
Krebill
brought
Kara
again as
his
guest.
Brad did
mention
that
Kara
will be
coming
on board
as a
Kiwanian
in the
very
near
future.
Alan
Watkins
brought
his
first
guest,
Jessica
Miracle.
We had a
special
guest
this
week;
Wally
Bissinger
from the
Golden K
club had
lunch
with
us.
Thanks,
Wally,
for
joining
us.
The sole
birthday
celebration
this
week was
for
Terry
Wakefield.
Terry
celebrated
on
February
28th!!
Happy
Bucks
were
paid by
Gordon
Harbert,
Bruce
Isaacson,
Sally
Ryan,
Kristi
Adams,
Dave
Kearsley,
Dennis
Durmas,
Rick
Tuma,
Ron
Sherman,

Way to
go,
Kiwanians!!
Please
call
your

and
remind
them of
this
special
luncheon
on March
8th.
Next
week,
prizes
will be
announced
for the
contest
between
all of
the
Kiwanians.
Fine
Master
Jeff
Cyriacks
took the
podium
and sent
out the

this
week.
Those

were
Rick
Nisley,
Chris
Gumone,
Brook
Blaney,
Gordon

contributions!!
Our
program
this
week was
introduced
by LeAnn
Zetmeir.
Cathy
DiPaola
with the
Hospice
and
Palliative
Care in
Grand
Junction
presented
a
program
that she
works
with at
Hospice.
Cathy is
the
Director
of the
Youth
Programs
at
Hospice.
She and
other
individuals
work
with
young
people
who have
suffered
from a
loss in
their
lives.
One of
the
tools
that
they use
for
recovery
is
“Memory
Bears”.
These
bears
are made
out of a
fabric
that was
once
worn by
the
person
that has
passed
on.
Cathy
presented
a very
moving
and
emotional
program
that had
the
audience
captive.
Cathy
was
presented
with a
certificate
of
appreciation
by Wes.
Our last
New
Member
Orientation
hosted
by Don
Teets
was
attended
by Brad
Krebill
and
Kara.
Thank
you all
for your
commitment
and
involvement.
Kristin
Winn
spoke
about an
upcoming
dedication
to one
of the
homes
that has
been
built by
Habitat
for
Humanity.
On
Saturday,
March 3rd
at 10am
the home
at 523
Chaluta
was
dedicated.
Please
remember
all of
the
great
work
that
Habitat
does for
our
community
and if
you are
interested
in
getting
involved,
please
see
Kristin.
Kristin
spoke
about
the
Pancake
Day for
2007 and
it looks
like the
kick off
date is
March
15,
2007.
Michele
Heiser
will be
in
charge
of
Corporate
Sales
this
year.
Wes
D’Aponti
gave our
Thought
for the
Day and
with
that we
were
adjourned.
Thank
you all
for your
patience,
my dear
friends
and
fellow
Kiwanians
as I got
through
a rough
spot. I
wish you
all a
beautiful
week.
Until
next
week…..Roxie
