Kiwanis Bulletin

November 15, 2007

Good morning, my fellow Kiwanians-

Tomorrow morning at 6:30 I am leaving town for Thanksgiving week.  The Bulletin this week will be in a different format than usual due to time constraints.  I hope that you enjoy!

·         Greeters were Heather Smith and LeAnn Zetmeir

·         Meeting was beautifully led by Mailyn D’Aponti

·         Terry Wakefield led us as we sang America the Beautiful and he also delivered our invocation

·         The members of the club recited the Pledge of Allegiance and our Defining Statement

·         Guests this week were: Paul Whitcraft with Jim Corley, Jackson Perry with Mike Pentaky, Tara DeLaney with Bob Burger, and Paula Allard with Terry Wakefield.

·         Birthday celebrations are for Beverly Troester, November 19th and Fred Nichols, November 22nd

·         Salvation Army Bell ringing will be Saturday, December 1st. Be sure and mark your calendar.  Larry Beckner and Claudia Jackson passed the “kettle” around the room and started raising money.  Sign up sheets will be out soon to pick your spot to “ring”.

·         Steve Thompson delivered “Lawyer Jokes” with Orville Boge, Bob Hanson, Jeff Gumone, Bill Byers, Joe Breman, and Greg Schafer.  Larry Beckner wrapped up the session with a great lawyer joke.  If you weren’t there on Thursday, you missed a fun time.

·         Ron Sherman stated that he would put in $100.00 for Salvation Army if five Kiwanians would match his $100. When that goal was met he pledged another $100.00 and that was quickly matched and $1,100.00 was raised in just a few short minutes.  Way to go Kiwanians!!!

·         Happy Bucks were paid this week by Rick Nisley, Sally Ryan, Jessica Miracle, Bill Byers, Jim Corley, Pete Jouflas, Kevin Price, Mike Kelly, Claudia Jackson and Jeannie Thomas.

·         FAC next month will be at Bub’s Pub on Horizon Drive on December 14th.

·         Michele Kelly was inducted this week into our club.  Her husband Mike Kelly delivered her acceptance speech for her.

·         Mailyn announced that December 27th will be Kiwanians Family Meeting.  Be sure and gather your loved ones for this meeting.

·         Young Women of the Month are Krista Dominguez from Grand Junction High School and Kaylee Dollarschell from Fruita Monument High School.  This segment of the meeting was presented by Roxie Denning.

·         Vern Gray delivered the monthly Board Report. He did a great job.

·         Tara DeLaney spoke about Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Q restaurant in Grand Junction.

·         Raffle Drawing was held by Sally Ryan and Ken Willard won the pot through the luck of the draw.  Claudia Jackson won a gift certificate from Dave’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant from the raffle drawing.  This will be a weekly event to raise money for our club.

·         Mike Kelly delivered our Thought for the Day and Mailyn adjourned our meeting.

Due to the fact that I am out of town next week, I will deliver a double news bulletin that will include our joint meeting with the Rotary Club and our meeting of November 29th

I wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving…..Roxie Denning, Bulletin Editor.
