This week we were greeted by Jessica Miracle and Heather Smith.
Their welcome was very warm and the smiles were great.
President Kristin opened our meeting right on time and welcomed
all of us and our guests. We sang “God Bless America” as Jeannie
played the piano and we sounded very proud as we sang our hearts
out!! Orville Petersen delivered our invocation and all
Kiwanians recited our Defining Statement.
This week I brought Kelly Davidson as a guest. Last week Kelly
was introduced by Jeff Freeland as his guest. Due to the fact
that Jeff was out of town last week he asked me to fill in for
him. Kelly does have an application and we should see her
coming on board very soon. Deanna Colaizzi brought her daughter
Keanna, Paula Voytilla introduced her daughter, Tauna, Mailyn
D’Aponti introduced her daughter, Adrianna, Mike Pentaky brought
Jackson Barry as his guest, Kevin Price introduced his daughter,
Madeline and Mike Kelly was with his wife, Michele. Michele
should be turning in an application soon, if she has already.
Happy Bucks were paid by Steve Thompson, Amy Dyer, Sally Ryan,
Rick Adleman, Kevin Price, Stephanie Tuin, and Jeannie Thomas.
Fines were thin this week; President Kristin fined Steve
Thompson and Rick Nisley. After the fines were paid, Barbara
Hinze read a pretty good joke. You had to be there for that
one.
Past President Wes D’Aponti took care of some unfinished
business. He thanked Joe Breman for serving on his board, Roxie
Denning for delivering the news bulletin, Bob Burger as his
Presidential Advisor, and Jim Corley was recognized as the
Kiwanian of the Year!!
Mailyn D’Aponti announced that our winter party will happen in
January 2008. Mailyn is looking for people that can help with
this event. Please see Mailyn if you are available. Vikki Bell
reported on the first FAC that took place in October. The next
FAC will take place on Friday (imagine that), November 9th
at the Blue Moon, Downtown Grand Junction. On October 27th,
Rick Adelman celebrated his birthday, Lloyd Unfred celebrated
his on October 26th and Rita Crumpton celebrated hers
on October 27th. Rick was at our meeting on Thursday
and we all sang “Happy Birthday” to him.
Barb Hinze introduced Ryan Cook as our program. Ryan
represented the National Association of Broadcasters and spoke
about the upcoming conversion from analog to digital
television. He presented a video that gave us a lot of
information and answered a few questions at the end.
Rick Abernathy brought gifts to President Kristin from
Washington State and New Mexico. He gave her a jar of
Huckleberry Bar-B-Que sauce from Washington and a bar of soap
from New Mexico.
Don Teets will hold a new member orientation on Monday, October
29th, at the Salvation Army if you are interested in
attending. The address is 1235 N. 4th St. This is
an excellent opportunity for new members and potential members
to understand the background of Kiwanis and what we are all
about. We encourage you to attend.
On October 23, 2007, John Michael Beckner passed away at
Community Hospital. Our condolences go to Larry Beckner and his

for the Day” and we were adjourned.
