It was a light attendance day
at Kiwanis today. However, if you missed, you missed a great
program. Amy Dyer introduced the youth group from Community
Outreach. They had a program of patriotic songs. The group
consisted of seven young people who sang and performed. They
were accompanied by four adults on the keyboard, violin and
operating electronic music. Such songs as This Land Is Your Land
were performed.
Our president, LeAnn Zetmier, called the meeting to order.
The greeters were Vikki Bell and Tony Colazzi. The song of the
day was America, The Beautiful. Bill Byers brought the
invocation. Amy Dyer brought the thought for the day. It had to
do with doing the right thing, the wrong thing, or doing
nothing. Tom Sheldon brought news, weather and sports. Cathy
Staten won the five bucks for reciting the defining statement.
Sally Ryan, John Wikre and Ryan Otberg are celebrating
birthdays this week. Congratulations to all.
Those with guests included Toni Heiden-Moran who had her
grandson Anthony Heiden with her. Also our faithful attender
Cody was back as a guest of his grandfather Terry Wakefield.
Terry also had Charles Kitto as his guest.
Happy bucks were given for various reasons. Mike Moran was
happy for a trip to Denver and seeing the Rockies play. Bill
Byers put in a buck for a nice trip to see his son in
California. Bruce Hill had a buck to remember the graduation of
his son, Brandon. Sally Ryan was happy because of an upcoming
trip and because it is her birthday this week. Rick Nisley put
in a buck because Joe Breman had a foal added to his menagerie.
Brook Blaney was happy about a trip to Las Vegas. Kristin Winn
gave a buck to tell of a Fourth of July skiing expedition.
Wes D’Aponti announced a Pancake Day wrap up next week after
he meets with all the committee Chairmen. He asked that if you
have suggestions to e-mail him. His e-mail address is
wes@eaa-co.com
.
Gary Brown won the tickets to a Rockies game but cannot
attend so they were auctioned off. Two tickets and a night at
the Holiday Inn was purchased by LeAnn Zetmier and the other two
tickets and night at the Holiday Inn were bought by Brook
Blaney.
Jim Moore told of his life. He said he was born in Salt Lake
City, lived in Tucson, Az and went to dental school at USC
before coming to Grand Junction to practice denistry. He has
been fillin and drillin ever since. He said he likes to hunt,
fish and ski. Later he acknowledged he was married and had to
pay a fine for that oversight. Next week Gordon Harbert is to
tell of his life.
Jeff Cyriaks handed out the fines today. He fined Joe Breman
to pay for the weight of his new pony. As it weighed 40 lbs, he
paid $4.00. All people who were sitting next to family were
fined a buck a piece. Greg Schaefer and Bill Byers were fined
for some unknown reason. Daryl Pridy was praised for his dressy
appearance.
Don’t forget the District Convention scheduled for August
3-6. For details contact president LeAnn.
Allocations can still be asked for. The time will expire on
July 19. Terry Wakefield is in charge of that committee.
Application are on our web sight.
The Camp Kiwanis Picnic will be July 27. This is a change of
date. It will be hosted by the Hilltop people and you can be
there anytime after 4:30 PM. A round table will be here at Two
Rivers for those who cannot attend. Sign-ups will be on the
table next week.
We look forward to seeing you next week at club. Henry
