This will be short as we had
a split meeting with a round table at Two Rivers at noon which
was attended by few or so I am told and a short meeting after a
beautiful drive to Camp Kiwanis. At Camp Kiwanis we were
entertained by Chuck and Jeanne Thomas who had not only a key
board but also several horns, an accordian and a mouth harp and
of course the very talented and versatile Jeanne. It is amazing
how many songs she and Chuck know.
When President LeAnn called us to order we sang You Are My
Sunshine and God Bless America.
The prayer was offered by Terry Wakefield. He indicated we
should be praying for those who were lost in the parking lot and
were found by bottles of beer.
The pledge was offered after Ron Sherman brought a small flag
for our president to hold.
The rest of the time was taken by eating, exploring the camp
and playing with water pistols. President LeAnn had a box of
filled water pistols which were found by not only the young but
also the young at heart. Water flew for a while.
The food was barbequed chicken and beef. Cole Slaw and fruit
salad as well as baked beans were also served. There was a large
cake with a big thank you to Kiwanis on the top. If you went
hungry it was your own fault.
Hilltop House is doing a good job with the camp. It was in
good shape and several from Hilltop were there to have dinner
with us. Mr Livingston made a point of meeting everyone and
welcoming us. There were several from the Golden K club in
attendance also. Their President Jim Moore thanked us for
inviting them. All in all I would say about 50 people were in
attendance. There were lots of members with their families and
many without as well as several from Hilltop.
We even had a couple of dogs there to keep us company.
If you were not able to attend you missed a fun time.
President LeAnn reported that former member Brad Willms broke
his back playing racquet ball or some sort of game at his place
of business. No other details were given but remember him with a
card or a prayer or whatever.
We were told that former member Velma Bilger passed away on
Friday July 28. Once again I have no further details.
Next week the meeting will be back at Two Rivers at the usual
time. Come and find out what the program will be. As the
District Convention is August 3-6 look for a few of our leaders
to be missing.
