We met in the shade of the
canopy outside the Two Rivers Convention Center. That is most
were in the shade but as the meeting progressed the sun found
it’s way to more and more of those in attendance.
President LeAnn Zetmier was in charge. The greeters were
Lloyd Unfred and Ben Watkins. The song of the day was America,
the Beautiful. Jeanne Thomas lead the prayer. She read a thought
about Reveling in the day before the prayer. It was good to see
her without a walker. She says she is getting more well all the
time. Later Jim Moore brought the thought for the day. It had to
do with how well you did your job. Bob Colony gave the defining
statement and won the $5.00.
Roxie Denning reminded us we have a membership drive on but
she was the only one to introduce a guest. Amy Rogers was her
guest. During the membership drive the cost to join is reduced
from $75 to $50. Lets get out and invite prospective members.
Tom Sheldon, Steve Castor, Jeff Gumone and Chris Gumone had
happy bucks. Others with happy bucks were Lloyd Unfred, Sally
Ryan, LeAnn Zetmier, Marillee Wood and guest speaker Elliot
Wright.
Our program introduced by president LeAnn was her daughter,
Kristin Reed and Elliot Wright. They talked about the El Pomar
Foundation. It is dedicated to helping the non profit Colorado
organizations who are involved in health, human services,
education, arts and humanities and civic and community
initiatives. They give away some $20,000,000 each year. El Pamar
was founded in 1937 with an endowment from Spencer and Julie
Penrose of $20,000,000. It was an interesting talk.
The only birthday celebrated this week was LeAnn’s daughter,
Kristin. We sang to her.

Jeff Cyriaks handed out fines to Barbara Hinze, Bob Stratton,
Scott Hayduk, Roxie Denning and Brad Krebill. He also paid a
fine for not attending the highway cleanup last Saturday. Some
8-10 people were out gathering trash.
Bruce Peers told of his life. He said he was born in Niagra
Falls, NY and spent most of his younger days there. He moved
from NY to Lakewood, CO and then to Delta before moving to Grand
Junction. He chose Tom LaCroix to tell of his life next week.
Thea Chase said Wes D’Aponti is to be honored this evening
with the Ken Nesbitt award for his business mindedness.

in the corporate pancake day sponsorship. The goal for corporate

sales will be started. Be sure to attend for this fun time.
The election of new officers will be May 11. If you would
like to be considered for a board position contact president
LeAnn or Rich Emerson.
We held the beef raffle. 30 packages of meat were raffled by
Pete Jouflas and Bob Hanson. Bob said the cost of the beef to
the club was ½ of $2700 and about $450 was raised by ticket
sales. We also heard lots of jokes by Pete and Bob during the
raffle.

June 3 to help get the camp ready for the summer. Contact Greg
if you would like to be a member of that committee.
