Happy Birthday to Jeff Gumone
this week. Happy Bucks came from Michele Heiser announcing
Public Health Week, Lloyd Unfred promoting his April 8
Barbershop quarter show, and Bob Hanson whose has completed
his business move to his new location. Ron Sherman had a sad
buck remembering past member Matt Mattas who passed away
this week. We even had some guests who contributed dollars.
This week’s This is Your Life story came from Guy Stephens
who warned it could a long story. Guy is a GJ native who
advises changing careers a few times to keep from life
interesting.
Fine Master du jour, Jeff
Cyriaks went after his fining team as well as Pete Jouflas
for sitting alone, Randy Kirschbaum and Steve Thompson for
promoting their fine businesses. Paul Miller’s cell phone
rang at an inopportune time and it cost him a buck.
The program was David
Livingston with Hilltop Services. He reported on Camp
Kiwanis and was greeted with a standing ovation. Hilltop had
a successful first season operating the camp and is
developing new programs for local youth to have an education
experience in our beautiful location. They are starting
five new programs including Mountain Biking, Arts and Crafts
and Survival. David thanked the club, especially noting Greg
Schaefer, Ed Branson and Don Fifield. They still need help,
though. David challenged us to form a scholarship committee
with other service clubs to enable more kids to have a
camping experience. If anyone has a source for materials
that can be donated, Hilltop is looking for metal roofing, a
wood stove and furnishing for the manager’s cabin. He hopes
that the club will remain very involved and reminded us that
our name is still on the door.
Wes D’Aponti had Pancake
tickets in hand! Committees are forming and things are about
to get going. Kristin Winn reported that we have $4,250 in
corporate sales on our way to the $30,000 goal. If you sell
a corporate sponsorship get those tickets to the business.
Don’t forget the party on May 5 for everyone selling $500 or
more. Forms are on the website or available at Club. Call
Kristin or Bob Colony if you need anything related to
corporate sales.
President LeAnn announced
that elections will be held the second week of May for three
board positions as well as Vice President to take office in
October. If you would like to become involved in the
leadership of the club, see President LeAnn or any board
member.
