When we came into the meeting today we were greeted by Amy
Hand and Tom LaCroix.
The meeting was called to order by
president LeAnn Zetmier. The song of the day, which Rich
Emerson thought we should sing twice, was Let Me Call You
Sweetheart. Mike Moran volunteered to pray.
Later the group called the Spare Parts entertained us
with three songs appropriate for Valentines day beginning
with Let Me Call You Sweetheart. They are willing to go and
serenade your sweety on Valentines Day for a price of
course.
Guests today included Denise Williams introduced by Bill
Byers. Amy Dyer had her sister Rosanna Taylor with her.
Rosanna is a member of the AKTION Club. The Fruita Monument
Key Club was represented by four members. They are keeping
busy helping out at the Soup Kitchen and an elementary
school as well as planning to attend the district
convention.
Several Happy Bucks were contributed. Sally Ryan was
happy as she was not hurt in an accident this week. Others
with happy bucks included Henry Langstaff; Bruce Isaacson
who was happy for celebrating 64 for years of marriage to
his lovely wife, Aldean; Kristin Winn, Brook Blaney, Kristi
Adams, Lloyd Unfred, Bob Hanson, and Joe Breman.
Vern Grey, Joe Breman and Paul Miller are noting
birthdays this week. We sang happy birthday to them.
When we came in a display of pictures from last year’s
Mardi Gras party were showing. Wes D’Aponti reminded us that
the party this year is scheduled for February 25. It is at
Adobe Creek Golf Course. The cost is $30.00 per person and
the music will be by Rick and Karen Blake. The food will be
Cajun Style. You must get your tickets in advance. Call Wes
for details.
Brook Blaney told a joke about a gynaecologist turned
auto mechanic. Vern Gray won the $5.00 after reciting the
defining statement. Tom Sheldon brought News Weather and
Sports.
Do not forget the charter luncheon on February 23. Sign
up sheets were on the table today and will also be there
next week. If you plan to bring a guest it would be good to
know so there will be enough food to go around.
The Speaker today was Tim Hatten from Mesa State College.
He was introduced by Mike Moran. Tim spoke on the
Entrepreneurial Business Institute and what it is trying to
accomplish.
Our Fine master today was Jeff Cyriaks. He handed out
more than the usual buck fines to several people. He fined
Jeff Freeland for no pin but because he passed the buck on
why he did not wear one on to Bill Byers, Bill ended up with
the fine. Brad Krebill was fined as was Vern Grey. Vern was
accused of looking like an Easter Egg in his bright shirt.
Brook Blaney paid a fine as did Joe Breman. Ron Sherman and
Tom LaCroix as well as Amy Hand were fined. He also handed
out levies to Mike Moran and Rich Emerson.
Tom Sheldon told of his life. He is a native of the Grand
Junction Area and his father was in broadcasting before him
so he has been involved in Radio since he was a small child.
He chose Larry Beckner to tell of his life next week.
Wes D’Aponti brought the board report. He basically said
there were only the usual things covered.
Kristin Winn announced a work day for women at Habitat
for Humanity on February 18. She also said it is time to
start thinking of corporate sales for Pancake Day. Bob
Colony will head up the committee again this year but they
are looking for more members to help out.
The Mid Winter Conference is at the Denver Marriott on
February 17-19. Plan to attend if you can. For details
contact LeAnn Zetmier or Lynne Sorlye.
There were two gifts for the president. Rick Nisley
brought a magic wand from some place and Brook Blaney
brought candy, a beanie and miscellaneous other items from
Seattle.
The Golden K Club’s Chile Supper was reported to be a big
success.
See you next week Henry Langstaff Bulletin
