President- elect LeAnn Zetmier
was in charge of the meeting today. I do not know where our esteemed leader
Mike Moran was. Hopefully having fun somewhere. At any rate all went well.
The greeters were Orville Boge and Ken Willard. The song of the day was
You’re a Grand Old Flag. The joke of the day was brought by Dennis Durmas.
It had to do with ducks in a bar. You had to be there to appreciate it. It
was decided it was probably not what Pete Jouflas would bring! The thought
for the day was given by Rick Nisley. He quoted Tom Osborne. "How you handle
adversity is more important than adversity itself."
Those with guests included Bruce Isaacson who brought his daughter, Claire Barker. LeAnn Zetmier had her daughter Kristin with her. Marilee Wood introduced the program speaker, Lori Hammond. Amy Hand had her daughters, Jordan and Madeline with her. Randy Kirschbaum brought Keith Owens as his guest. Paul Miller once again had his grandson, Taylor, with him. Jeff Freeland introduced Heather Steele as his guest. Stacey Mascarenas had her husband, Mark, her daughter, Madison, and her nephew, Cody, with her. Those with happy bucks today were Kristin Winn, LeAnn Zetmier, Rick Tuma, Pete Jouflas and Mike McDill. LeAnn announced the district convention is coming up August 11-14 in Cheyenne. As Rich Emerson is running for Governor Elect it is good to have as many from our club go to the convention. Some 10-12 at least are needed. By show of hands at least 10 said they plan to attend. The meetings will be held at the Hitching Post in Cheyenne. Bob Colony said to get your reservations in now. The club has budgeted $750 for travel expenses. If you would like to have a part of that money contact Orville Peterson for details. Roger Martin, Bob Hanson and Katherine Staton are celebrating birthdays this week. Congratulations to all. Jeff Cyriaks had his membership anniversary. He said working in the kitchen on pancake day is his most memorable Kiwanis moment. Marilee Wood introduced the program. Lori Hammond from Early Childhood Connection was the speaker. She told how Kiwanis money has been used to help those with problems in early childhood. She said the money was spent to help those families with little money to be with their small children with disabilities. The torch was passed to next year’s chairman for Pancake Days. That is Mike McDill. LeAnn Zetmier said there was a wrap-up meeting last night. She also said the Free Press and the Daily Sentinel will be running ads this week-end thanking those who contributed to the success of Pancake Days.. Orville Peterson announced those who did not sell at least $80.00 in tickets will be billed for the amount they did not sell up to $80.00. If you get a bill and think it is not right contact him. The blood mobile is coming July 14. Sign-up will be next week, LeAnn announced. Mike McDill announced there are some 12-13 new members brought in during the membership drive. It wraps up next week. The goal was 20. If you have someone to get included you need to be sure they attend the orientation meeting on Wednesday July 6. Don Teets will conduct that meeting at the Holiday Inn beginning at 5:15PM. As of now our total membership is about 126 people Lynne Sorlye said. Heidi Waggoner had new calendars on the table today.
