The last meeting of the
Grand Junction Kiwanis Club in 2005 was conducted by
president-elect Mike McDill. A lot of the regulars were
missing but we had a bunch of potential members, that is,
children and grandchildren here to make up. Our greeters
were Vikki Bell and Lowell Shormann. Also helping with the
greeting was Shaunalee Wall. Terry Wakefield lead the
prayer. Jeanne had us sing Auld Lang Syne. She told us a
little about it’s meaning. Stacey Mascarenas brought the
thought for the day. She quoted T S Elliot. It had to do
appropriately with last year and next year. Henry Langstaff
recited the defining statement and won the $5.00.I hope I
have all the guests correctly. If I missed anyone or
misspelled their name, I am sorry. Paul Miller had his wife,
Lynn as his guest. Dennis Durmas brought his son, Jonathon
and wife, Carla. Mike Kelly had Michelle and Brittany with
him. Heidi Waggoner had her two children, Nicholas and
Kenneth as well as a friend, Steve Myers. Shaunalee Walls
introduced Daryl Pridy’s children Mason, Madeline and
Taylor. Orville Boge was accompanied by his wife, Frances.
Stacey Mascarenas introduced Terry Wakefield’s wife as well
as her husband and her nephew, Cody. Fred Nichols also had
his wife with him. I think that Wakefield family was also
represented by a couple of more members which I am not sure
of their identities. Roxie Denning had Maddie Keith with
her. Steve Katz brought his wife, Sherry. Rita Crumpton had
her husband, Thomas with her. Marilee Wood was with her son
and her husband. Amy dyer brought her daughter and her two
grandchildren, Henry and ?. As you can see there were lots
of young guests.
One of the main reasons for all the young people was so
they could enjoy the magic show. Our Program was Magician
Dave Biehm. He entertained us all with his fun show. He had
the young people sit up front and assist him with his
various tricks.
Several people had happy bucks. Mike McDill had a buck
because he had a good time with his family at Christmas.
Stacey Mascarenas put in a buck because it was time for her
5th Wedding anniversary also her brother has been
promoted to colonel. Rick Nisley had a buck to gloat at
Steve Thompson. Kristin Winn put in a buck about the skiing.
Sally Ryan also had a buck as did Lynne Sorlye.
Mike Kelly was fined for winning some money. Other than
that there were no fines.
Don’t forget to plan for the Mardi Gras party. It is to
be February 25 at Adobe Creek. More on that in the weeks to
come.
Next week the blood mobile will be parked out front. If
you have signed up to give blood be sure to do so. January
is National Blood Month.
Joe Higgins announced the Anti- Meth program will be
kicked off next Thursday, January 5, at the old court house
on 6th and Rood. The time is set for 9:00 AM. You
are invited to come to this important event.
Have a Happy New Year. . Henry Langstaff Bulletin Editor.
