Mt Rushmore. He brought a "Fear No Beer" magnet from Wisconsin and a
Sturgess, SD, patch from the 2002 Motorcycle Rally. Mike McDill also
was back from vacation. He had been to Mexico and brought back a
bottle of Muscatel along with some things from the hotel. Wes

Mark a miniature pyramid. The greeters today were Rick Morey and

News, Weather and Sports. Roxie Denning had the thought for the day
while Bob Burger told the joke of the day. Bob’s joke was about
puppies and politicians. Ask him for the details. Ron Sherman was
the mystery greeter. He chose Ed Branson to get the pot.
Among the guests today were the following: Tom Sheldon introduced
Christi Amos from his company. Steve Katz introduced Bill Spitznagle
for the last time as a guest as he was inducted into the club later.
Wes D’Aponti had Janice Sander as his guest. There was also an
interclub with the Western Slope Kiwanis Club. I believe there were
six members of that club present. I did not get all their names.
Included were Angie Salazar, Liz McKinney, Pam Nichol, Chris Nichols
and Jeanine ?.
Vikki Bell introduced the program. Shirley Rowe from CASA was the
speaker. CASA stands for Court Appointed Child Advocates. She told
us how they help find homes and justice for the mistreated children
of Mesa County. This is a program that we have supported with money
in the past.
There were several with happy bucks. Bob Hanson had a buck to say
he had purchased 4-H beef at the livestock auction last week-end.
Bill Byers had a buck to say he and his wife are now empty nesters.
Amy Dyer was happy because her son will be on his first teaching job
this term. Also she said her grandson, Henry has two teeth. Heidi
Waggoner was happy because her youngest child is now 1 year old. Joe
Breman put in a buck to say that 24 pints of blood were donated last
week. Rick Nisley said the AKTION Club has need of more shirts as
they have used up the 24 we originally gave them.
Those celebrating Birthdays this week are Orville Boge, Katie
Ames, Elgin Mallory, Stacy Mascarenas and Greg Schaefer. Orville,
Katie and Stacy were here and told of their most memorable
birthdays.
Anniversaries are being celebrated this week by Ken Willard,
Steve Castor, Debra Pace and Brad Krebill. Ken, Debra and Brad told
of their most romantic anniversaries. The guys got a thumbs up from
the ladies in the club so were not fined. Debra did not have to have
her story approved by the men of the club. Go Figure!!!!
The Western Slope Kiwanis Club announced there will be a Kiwanis
Kids Concert at the Botanical Gardens on August 21. We are invited
to attend.
There are still sign up sheets for those interested in working at
Habitat for Humanity.

stations. It cost him $5.00.
Bill Spitznagle was inducted into the club. Bill is sponsored by
Steve Katz. Bill is the new owner of Katz Automotive. He is married
with three children. Welcome, Bill.
Key Club scholarships were given to two Key Club Members from the
Central Key Club. They are Tara Auterbern and Megan Parsons. Both
plan to attend Mesa State this fall. Thanks for the hard work of the
Key Club sponsors Heidi Pankow and Kevin Price. If you would like to
be a Key club sponsor contact these people or president Mark. We
hope to get a club started at Grand Junction High this year.
Next week the program is Western Slope Center for Children. See
you then.
