Kiwanis Weekly

July 8, 2004

Ryan Ellington and Mike McDill were right at the front door to greet us as we came in today.

After President Mark Relph called the meeting to order the Song of the day was My Country Tis Of Thee (America). Ryan Ellington lead the prayer. The Joke of the day was told by Ken Maher and the Thought for the day was brought by Mike McDill. The joke had to do with cannibals at work and the thought had to do with the potential of each child.

LeAnn Zetmier was celebrating her birthday this week. You will have to ask her what significant birthday that is. I sure would not want to mention she has been around for a half century! Ryan Otberg also had a birthday but was not here to be sung to. If you see him be sure to wish him Happy Birthday.

Don Teets and Pete Jouflas are both celebrating anniversaries this week. Don said this was number 13 and Pete said number 17. Congratulation to both of you and your spouses.

Stephanie Tuin introduced the program this week. It was another having to do with city government and activities. Do you suppose the fact that Mike McDill’s group is in charge has something to do with it? At any rate the speaker was Juanita Peterson from the City of Grand Junction. She told of all the committees

that are looking for volunteers to serve on them. If you would like to apply contact Juanita at the City.

The Blood Drive is coming up again in two weeks. Next week there will be sign-up sheets so if you would like to donate be sure to sign the sheet next week.

The District Kiwanis Convention is coming up August 12-15. It is to be held in Longmont. If you would like to attend and possibly be a representative from our club contact Mark Relph as soon as possible.

Guests today included Larry Cheynowerth who was a guest of Sue Kiser. Thea Chase had her children with her today. Gordon Harbert introduced Mona Doring. Gordon messed up and called the president, Rick. It later cost him a buck. Steve Katz had the new owner of Katz Automotive as his guest for the second time. He reported Bill Spitznagle has an application for membership in hand and mostly completed. Welcome to all.

Heidi Pankow had a happy buck to announce the upcoming increase in her family. She and her husband are expecting a new baby in February. Ted Sparn gave a buck and told how he went to watch the Guccini Space landing around Saturn. Rick Nisley had a buck in honor of the Israeli Scouts who are in town this week-end. Marilee Wood put in a buck because of the help the AKTION club is getting from members of our club. Gordon Harbert had a buck to recall the yard sale coming up this week-end at Third and North

Ave.

President Mark fined Gordon Harbert for calling him president Rick and for advertising his business. He also fined Pete Jouflas for his lousy story about his anniversaries.

Rick Nisley told a joke about the 2 Johns on the Democratic ticket.

Next week the program is Downtown Partnership. Come and find out what that means.

Gifts for the president were brought by Mike Moran from his recent trip to the International Kiwanis Convention and his trip to San Francisco. Barb Krause had a gift from her recent trip to the St Kits in the Carribean It was a bottle of Ting and a bottle of Carribean Beer.

Ron Sherman was asked to sew the badge on the Kiwanis Banner. He said that was skirt work but he would get it done.

Our mystery greeter was Kristin Winn. She said the last one to shake her hand was Larry Beckner and he got the $5.00.

Henry Langstaff Bulletin– Editor.
