March 25, 2004

It was time for Young Women of the Month. Tom Sheldon did his usual good job of introducing the outstanding young women this month.. The Young Lady from Grand Junction was Jessica Brady. She was accompanied by her sister Elizabeth and her sponsor Ms Lambert. Fruita High had as their representative Kelly Mudon. Her sponsor was Linda Kooman and her mother was with her. Palisade send Sandra Pike as their outstanding young woman. She had her sponsor with her. Central High’s Ramana Konantz was accompanied by her parents and her sponsor Mr Santee. Congratulations to all these future leaders of our country.

Greeters today were Jim Moore and Thea Chase. The prayer was offered by Henry Langstaff. President Mark Relph called the meeting to order. He asked for introductions of guests. The following people were here as guests. Bill Byers had Steve ErkenBrack as his guest. Bob Stratton had two guests. They were Allison Shepard and Michael Murphy. Tom Sheldon had Amanda Walker, an associate of his, as his guest. Andy Means brought Lorena Conrad with him. Vernon Grey introduced Scotland Willis as his guest.

The song of the day was This Land Is Your Land. Terry Wakefield lead the singing. Thea Chase brought the thought for the day. She had figured out how many calories would be put into the community the day Krispy Kreme opens. Debra Pace had the joke of the day. She told how a man was treated as a king even though he had come home drunk. He had told his wife he was married when she tried to undress him.

Happy bucks were given by the following: Gordon Harbert because his wife made it through surgery ok. Bruce Hill had a buck because his daughters kindergarten class likes the new city logo. Heidi Pankow had a buck in honor of her daughters birthday. Rick Nisley gave a buck because he lost track of what week this is. Ron Sherman had a buck because of Rick Tuma’s mention of a round-about. Mike McDill put in a buck because he was happy to be back from Minneapolis.

Bob Colony put in a happy buck because corporate pancake day sales are going good. He said there has been some $6000.00 already come in and with the ad in the Daily Sentinel sales should be easy.

Roxie Denning was celebrating her birthday this week. She said she had a great time on a trip to San Francisco for her birthday.

LeAnn Zetmier and Lynne Sorlye are kicking off the membership drive. They asked everyone to tell something about themselves that we may not know. This is to help all to get acquainted . The drive is going until May 20. Bruce Hill will give an orientation for all the members at that meeting. During the membership drive the cost to join is decreased to $25.00 from $50.00. Also if you bring a new member you can complete a TISTAFL to save the cost of the meal. Let’s all work on bringing in new members.

Steve Thompson handed out fines today. He took exception to Henry’s reference to the way he enjoyed doing the fines and so Henry Langstaff had to pony up a buck. Bill Byers and Guy Stephens were fined for having an attorney between them. Guy said he had nothing to do with it. Thea Chase was fined for missing too many meetings. He called on Roxie because of her story about her birthday trip but I am not sure he fined her. Rick Nisley was fined for being forgetful and for telling long stories.

Bob Hanson and Pete Jouflas conducted the beef raffle. Bob and Pete had lots of jokes to tell and so the raffle took a long time. I think they were trying to get our minds off the fact that Bruce Hill kept winning so many packages of beef.. The beef raffle collected about $600.00 toward the purchase of the 4-H beef.

Let’s all come out next week to hear Nancy Terrell tell about the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. See You Then
