The greeters today were Wes D’Aponti and Allison
Ellington. The song of the day was Deck The Halls lead by Rich
Emerson. Rich Emerson also lead the prayer. Matt Guccini told the
joke of the day. He had a little problem remembering the punch
line even though he is not Blond. Henry Langstaff brought the
thought for the day. It had to do with living a successful life.
After President Mike Moran called the meeting to
order he had the introduction of guests. We had some 10 members of
the Central High Key Club with us. They were introduced by their
vice-president Shannon Holsey. Brad Willms was the guest of Jeff
Freeman. He is looking for a service club. Kevin Price had his 3
year old daughter Madeline with him. Gordon Harbert introduced Mr
and Mrs Alfred Parker. They are officers with the Salvation Army.
Roxie Denning was accompanied by Deb Fitzgerald. Deb has completed
an application for membership. She also had Ben Watkins with her.
Guy Stephens introduced Mansel Page as his guest. Mansel is Peggy
Page’s father.
All the money collected today for Happy Bucks and
fines was contributed to The Salvation Army. As I am sure you know
this Saturday, December 4, is Bell Ringing day. Plan to meet at
the Salvation Army Building on 4th Street north of
North Avenue at 11 AM. We will be ringing bells from noon to 2PM
and will be trying to beat the amount collected by the Rotary
Club. Actually the bet with them is based on the larger percentage
increase from the previous year. Debra Page and Allison Ellington
are heading up the drive to beat Rotary this year.
Those giving happy Bucks included Rick Nisley who
was so happy the Nebraska made it to winning seasons for 30+ years
in a row. Vern Gray was once again happy over the Red Sox winning
the World Series. Orville Boge was happy because he has so many
friends. Marillee Wood put in a buck to talk about the AKTION
Club. The club has raised some $400 for toys for tots. Dennis
Durmas was happy because he competed in his first snowmobile race
of the season. Bruce Dwire had a buck because he saw his daughter
and she has become engaged. Others contributing money included
Roxie Denning, Orville Peterson, Tom LaCroix, Paul Miller, Toni
Heiden-Moran, Bob Burger and Mike Moran.
Fine Master Steve Thompson handed out fines right
and left. Actually the amounts were already discussed with the
individuals and agreed upon in advance. If you are not familiar
with this particular meeting it is based on a tradition dating
back many years. When Frank Dunn was alive he used to dress up
special to raise money for the Salvation Army. The ones to be
mentioned were singled out, however, they were not the only ones
to contribute. In fact after the "fines" were handed out Steve was
chastised by LeAnn Zetmier for not calling on any of the women.
Trumped up charges were made to Mike Moran who paid at least $100.
Bob Hanson and Bob Colony each put in $100 and Bob had a check
from Margie Zimmerman for $100 as well. Rich Emerson paid $50,
Orville Peterson $100, Scott Hayduk $50, Larry Beckner $500, Greg
Schaefer $500, Guy Stephens $100, Rick Tuma $100, Rick Nisley $50,
Lee Young $100, Mansel Page $1500 and Peggy Page, $500. Dennis
Durmas $100, Gordon Harbert $250, Steve Thompson $100 and Carpet
Land $100 as well as Orville Boge $100. Whether your name is
mentioned or not thanks for helping out.
