Kiwanis Weekly

January 7, 2004

It was good to see everyone again after no meetings for two weeks. I understand there was an interclub with the Golden K club on December 31. In fact Rick Nisley was sporting the Golden K’s bell. It was a good thing it was here as our bell seemed to have disappeared while we were gone.

The greeters today were Ken Willard and Randy Kirschbaum. The prayer was lead by Orville Boge. The song of the day was America, The Beautiful.

Mary Dunder brought the joke of the day. It had to do with attorneys and tall grass. The thought for the day was presented by an attorney, Larry Beckner. His thought sounded like a joke. You needed to be here to appreciate either. The mystery greeter was Brad Krebill. He said Steve Katz won the pot.

Guests today included Roxie Denning. The was introduced by Vikki Bell. Don Teets once again introduced Earl Payne’s daughter Sharon Baxter. Sharon has filled out an application for membership. Terry Wakefield had his daughter Stacy Mascarini as his guest. Mike McDill brought Pete Baer as his guest. Gordon Harbert was accompanied by his wife Judy. Denise Bagg once again brought Mary Balson with her. Vernon Gray had as his guest Andy Mears. Welcome to all.

Happy bucks today were given by Amy Dyer, who said her son graduated from CSU; Vernon Gray said he has a new baby that weighed in at 7# and several ounces. He got to put in a dollar per pound for the new child. Mike McDill put in a buck in celebration of his son, Paul’s engagement. Rick Nisley brought a buck to read a newspaper article. Heidi Pankow went to Phoenix and decide how thankful she is not to live there anymore. Jim Moore was happy because USC won the Rose Bowl. Jim Hill was happy because his granddaughter who was born prematurely is now 5# and got to go home. Jamie Lummis was happy because Bruce Isaacson and him had a good time bell ringing.

Ed Branson said the camp committee met last night and will meet again in February. They are talking to the Fellowship Church about turning the camp over to them after this fiscal year.

The 22nd of January is the blood drive. Sign up sheets will be on the table next week.

The Charter Luncheon is scheduled for February 12. Pete Jouflas is in charge of the committee to pick the Citizen of the Year. If you have input contact Pete.

The mid-winter conference is scheduled for February 6-8 in Golden. Pick up a application if you want to attend.

Fines were handed out by Steve Thompson. He acted as President Mark’s right hand man. He fined himself. He also fined Gordon Harbert, Brook Blaney, Randy Kirschbaum, Rick Nisley, Ron Lappi and Bruce Hill.

Martie Miller and Bonnie Peterson are celebrating birthdays this week. Neither were at club but the Anniversary celebrants were. They were Katie Ames celebrated 26 years. Heidi Pankow is remembering 11 years and Mark Relph has 11 hears this time. Congratulations to all.

The program was about the Alzheimer Association. Ken Willard introduced Annie Smyth and Beverly Thompson. The talked about how Alzheimers effects us all. There is a program on public TV 1/21/04 at 8Pm about that. If you have question please contact them at 256-1274 or (800) 864-4404.

Several people had gifts for the president. The included Terry Wakefield, who went to England; Katie Ames who had been to Cancun. Stephanie Tuin brought a gift from Mexico. Brook Blaney was in Boston and had a gift. Rick Nisley brought a gift back from Boulder.

See you next week.
