Kiwanis Weekly

January 29, 2004

The greeters today were Barb Krause and Ken Willard assisted by Karen Rowe. President Mark Relph conducted the meeting by first getting his bell back. It was reclaimed by a group of members headed up by Rick Nisley (who by the way, was the reason we lost it in the first place). Others who went to the Golden K yesterday and had an interclub were Orville Boge, Steve Thompson, Mike McDill, Mike Moran, Rick Nisley and I believe Mark Relph.

After the meeting was called to order we sang My Country Tis Of Thee (America) and Bill Byers lead in prayer. The Joke of the day was told by Bruce Hill. He thought a logo got the round-abouts off the front page. Randy Kirschbaum had the joke of the day. He said when you have Ham and Eggs for breakfast you know the chicken was involved but the pig was committed. Heidi Pankow was the mystery greeter. She awarded the pot to Wendy McBride.

The only guests today was the Fruita Key Club. They were represented by 8 members and one of their co-sponsors. Kevin Price introduced them. They said they were trying to raise $200.00 and were a little short.

Fine Master Steve Thompson took care of the deficit for the Key club by fining everyone at club who did not attend the interclub with the Golden K club a buck. All together there was some $80.00 raised. He also fined LeAnn Zetmier for making the paper without her Kiwanis pin. Rick Nisley got fined for several reasons. Dennis Durmas was fined as well.

When we came in today Mailyn D’Aponti was selling tickets to the Mardi Gras celebration scheduled for February 28 at the Bookcliff Country Club. The cost is $25.00 each and includes dinner, dessert, commemorative photograph and fun with your friends. Heidi Pankow told us some more information about Mardi Gras. She talked of the food mentioning Cajun and Creole. Plan to attend if you can.

Don’t forget the Camp Kiwanis Committee meeting next Wednesday February 4 at the Bray Educational building beginning at 5:30. Important decisions will be made so if you want to have input be there!

The Charter Luncheon is coming up February 12. At that time the Citizen of the Year will be announced and those with perfect attendance will be honored.

The program today was the King and Trio. They entertained us with several songs and said they will be in concert shortly. In fact they sold tickets today.

The proceeds to go to the Rotary Foundation. David Durham and his trio of Merritt Kinsey, Ron Koos, and Chris Unfug brought several happy songs.

Birthdays this week are celebrated by Lowell Shormann and Denise Bagg. Neither were at club today but happy birthday to both.

Next week the program is School District 51. Plan to attend.

Henry Langstaff – Bulletin Editor.
