May 29, 2003

President Rick Nisley called the meeting to order at 12:30. For the busy hour that followed many things were done. First of all the greeters were Heidi Pankow and Tom Sheldon. The prayer was brought by Rita Crumpton. We sang Take Me Out To The Ball Game. Rita Crumpton brought the Joke of the Day and Heidi Pankow had the Thoughts for the day. She basically said we need to change our attitudes from time to time.

Gary Brown was the mystery greeter. He said the last one he shook hands with was Brad Krebill. Brad won the $15.00.

There were two inductions today. Bert Wittenberg was sponsored by Ed Branson. He is the Culligan man. The other new member is Mailynn D’Aponti sponsored by her husband Wes. She works at Environmental Audit and Assessment with her husband. Welcome to the new members.

Don’t forget on June 5, Past president Bruce Hill will conduct and indoctrination for all new members and their sponsors. It is at the Holiday Inn and begins at 5:30 PM.

The membership drive is complete. The winner of the trip to Mesquite was Karen Stealey who sponsored 8 new members. The second place winner was Randy Kirschbaum who chose the Rockies Tickets and the night at the Holiday Inn in Denver. The third place winner was Jeff Freeland who got the two tickets to the Cabaret. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who brought prospective new members.

Guests today were as follows: Mike Moran brought his wife Toni Heiden-Moran. Wes D"Aponti brought his wife for the last time as a guest as she was inducted today. Ed Branson introduced Bert Wittenberg again. Bob Colony had Rick Hunt with him.

Birthdays were recognized today by Rita Hoback, Tom Sheldon, Rich Emerson, Heidi Pankow, Guy Stephens, Larry Beckner and Mona Dyer. They all told of their most embarrassing moment but Guy topped them all by declaring that telling everyone that Rick Nisley was president was the most embarrassing moment. We all knew it was a joke.

Happy Bucks were given by Brad Krebill, Chris Gumone, Bob Burger, Allison Moore, Gordon Harbert, Tom Sheldon, Bill Byers, Mike Moran, Orville Peterson, and Bruce Dyer as well as Rick Nisley.

The program introduced by Kristin Winn was Tom Moore from the City. He talked and presented a slide show about the proposed Riverside Parkway. He said it will accommodate the projected additional traffic around the City. The expected cost will be in the neighborhood of 60 Million dollars.

Pancake Day ticket sales are moving along. The total sales are now at $17,849.00 with our goal of $25,000.00 within reach. The winners of the weekly prizes were Bill Kistler, wine; Gordon Harbert, bud vase; Scott Hayduk Banana Split; Henry Langstaff , haircut; and Jim Moore, Katz Auto lube.

The top team this week was Eleanor Walker’s team 5. The losing team was Orville Peterson’s team 4.

Stephanie Tuin needs help with the Cake Walk. Bob Colony said one of the prizes for bid at the silent auction is a houseboat at Lake Powell. This is worth $3753 and will start at about $2000.

Rita Crumpton needs help with a truck and driver June 12. We need help with the line service between 12-2 .

The Kiwanis shirts will be here next week. Plan to come and pay for your shirts and pick them up.
