Kiwanis Weekly

March 27, 2003

Greeters today were Bob Stratton, Thea Chase and Ken Maher. I hope you cannot say you got in without anyone acknowledging your entrance. Anyway welcome to all.

The song of the day was My Country Tis Of Thee (America). The prayer was offered by Mike Moran and President Rick Nisley conducted the meeting.

There were several guests today. As you probably know it is time for the membership drive. The goal is 20 new members, so said chairman Mike Moran. If you happen to be the one to bring the most new members you will win a trip for two to Mesquite, NV. Two nights paid for by the club. If you are second you will have your choice of 2 tickets to the Cabaret courtesy of Heidi Pankow or two tickets to a Rockies game. The third place finisher will get the other one. Be sure to ask prospective members to come. If you bring a prospective new member you will not have to pay for their meal during this time. The membership drive lasts until May 1.

Guests today included Alli Moore and Magan Monson brought by Karen Stealey. Jeff Freedman had Rick Rogers as his guest. Janet Rowland had her sister-in-law Susan with her today. Heidi Pankow brought Toni Sheldon with her. Heidi Waggoner introduced Beth Driscol. Randy Kirschbaum was accompanied by Trent Phillsberry. Rick Emerson had his son with him. Bruce Hill had Kevin Price as his guest. Bill Byers had two guests. They were his son Bryce and Vernon Grey. Welcome to all!

Happy Bucks were given by Janet Rowland and Bill Byers.

The speaker today was Janet Cameron director of the Marillac Clinic. She talked about the problem of uninsured families. She said some 20% of all families in the United States are uninsured. They cost everyone on their bills plus they live less healthy lives. Janet was introduced by Henry Langstaff.

Our guest Megan Monson was celebrating her birthday. She was asked by President Rick to come up and tell of her most embarrassing moment. She said this was it.

Congratulations to Bruce Isaacson. He has been a Kiwanian for 52 years. Bruce first joined Kiwanis in1951 in Glenwood Springs. CO. What a great accomplishment.

Mike Moran brought the Thought for the day. He also brought the joke of the day and News Weather and Sports.. Thanks, Mike.

Four members of the club with perfect attendance were not here for the presentation of the perfect attendance pins last month so they were given theirs today. They were Lynne Sorlye, Mike McDill, Larry Beckner and Rita Crumpton. President Rick fined them each a dollar. As you probably know you can have perfect attendance by being active in projects or attending board meetings or other club’s meetings.

Lynne Sorlye brought back from the recent Mid-Winter Conference a patch for being an outstanding club. She also brought a Kiwanis Tie for our President.

Other gifts today were presented to president Rick by Mike McDill. He was in Las Vegas and brought back a bourbon glass, a tee shirt and others.

Heidi Pankow recently was in Denver. She had a green hat among other things our president.

LeAnn Zetmier went to Hawaii and brought back Leis for Rick and Starr. She also had a big long story about getting "Leid."

Pete Jouflas was recently in Phoenix. He, too, had a gift for the president. It was a bottle of hot sauce called "Pain in the Ass" .

Mike Moran brought back gifts for President Rick from his trip to California. He had ripped off the room of the shower cap, shampoo etc.

Please complete the club Assessments and return by next week..

Bob Stratton & his wife will be honored by the Red Cross this week-end for the work as Angels Among Us.

The program next week will be about the 30 Road underpass. See you then.

Henry Langstaff – Bulletin Editor.
