Count Von Dracula ( President Rick Nisley) conducted the meeting today.
He said he was doing it in honor of the blood drive but it was probably
because he could wear some of the Nebraska Red Color. At any rate the
blood drive went well. Thanks to all who were able to donate blood.
It was also time for the beef raffle. There were some 35 packages of
beef to give away. We were also able to empty LeAnn Zetmier’s freezer as
the beef had been store there since last August. Bob Hanson and Pete
Jouflas did a good job of handling the drawing. They were also able to
tell several jokes about beef at the same time. Once again it was a good
job. Bob said this was the third place finisher at the beef judging of
4-H steers last year.
Greeters today were Jim Moore and Debra Pace. The prayer was offered
by Bill Byers. The song of the day was God Bless America. Dwayne Jackson
made it sound professional by the way he added additional notes.
Among the guests today were the following: Jerry Van Cleave came as a
guest of Jim Karandjeff but as Jim was unable to attend President Rick
introduced him. Former member Michelle Heiser was here and brought
greetings from her new club in Trinidad. Nice to see Michelle again.
Jeff Gumone had his wife Lori and his son Justin with him along with his
in-laws. Rick Nisley had his wife Starr with him and his mother-in-law
Frances Womack. Ed Branson had Wren Franklin as his guest. Wren has
turned in an application for membership. Debra Pace’s guest for the
second time was Steven Katz. Steven, too, had turned in an application
for membership. Gordon Harbert had Richard Bridges, an associate at the
lumber yard on North Avenue, as his guest. Joe Breman introduced Jo
Serrano, who was in charge of St Mary’s blood drive as his guest.
Clarence Ross had Butch Miller from Mesa State College with him today.
Jeff Friedman had Tim Curry as his guest today.
It was good to see Steve Thompson at club today. He ended up being
fined $5.00 for saying some disparaging remarks about the "Blood Sucker
from Nebraska".
Birthdays this week were celebrated by Rick Nisley, Lowell Shormann
and Denise Bagg. We sang Happy Birthday to Rick as he was the only one
present.
Jeff Friedman brought the thought for the day. It had to do with
walking beside me and being my friend.
There was no joke of the day but President Rick and the Jouflas–
Hanson group made up for it with all their jokes.
Heidi Pankow had a Happy Buck as did Gordon Harbert and Rick Nisley.
Stan Hilkey was fined for not having his Kiwanis pin in evidence in a
recent news photo of him. Bruce Hill as threatened with a fine for not
being able to fix President Rick’s parking ticket. Bill Byers received a
compliment for his letter to the editor. Les Goodding was threatened
with a fine for not picking up the quarters from a certain table but it
was determined he had and instead President Rick fined himself the
mistake.
Thea Chase did not have her badge on because she said it did not go
with her outfit.
Don’t forget there is a new member orientation scheduled for February
13 at the Holiday Inn. Time is 5:30 PM. Bruce Hill will be in charge. If
you are a new member or sponsor plan to attend.
The golf tournament is scheduled for May 23 at Adobe Creek and the
Pancake Day is June 13.
Be sure to plan to attend next week and we will see you then.
