It was Young Women of the Month for the month of March. As is was spring break when we usually have the day to honor the outstanding students it was set up. Bill Byers ably presented the young women and their sponsors. Central High’s young woman was Laura Wilhoit. She was accompanied by her parents and her sponsor Ms Gonzales. Fruita had as their outstanding young woman Katie Lloyd. Her Dad and sister were with her and her sponsor Mr Miller. Grand Junction was honoring Emily Rhodes. She had her parents and her teacher Lorena Thompson with her. Palisade’s Leann Rupe was with her teacher Coleen Collum and her parents. It is always good to have the opportunity to recognize the future of our country.

Larry Beckner had a story to tell about Lorena Thompson and the Knowledge Bowl. She heads up that contest and once again we have been asked to send a team. Contact Larry if you would like to go.

Mike Moran mentioned that the Membership Drive is in full swing. If you bring a prospective member between now and May first you too can let the club pick up the tab. Just fill out a TISTAFL. That stands for There Is Such A Thing As Free Lunch. If you bring the most new members during the drive you can win a trip to Mesquite for 2 for 2 nights. If you are second you have your choice of 2 tickets to the Cabaret or 2 tickets to a Rockies Game, your choice. If you are the third largest sponsor of new members you get what is left. Be sure to bring along those new prospective members.

Guests this week included Laura Clemens brought by Mike Moran, Karen Stealey had her two friends Alli Moore and Magan Monson. She also had a young man with her. I am sorry I did not catch his name. Heidi Pankow was accompanied by Tom Sheldon. Jeff Gumone introduced Steve Lennis. Mike McDill had Pete Barrett with him. Randy Kirschbaum was with his wife Betsy. Jeff Freeland brought Rick Rogers as his guest while Bill Byers introduced Vernon Grey. Vernon is to be inducted into the club next week..

The Greeters today were Rich Emerson and Amy Dyer. The prayer was offered by Larry Beckner. The song of the day was When It’s Springtime In The Rockies. Mike Moran had News, Weather and Sports. The Thought for the day was presented by Rich Emerson. His thought was a poem about ASAP (Always Say A Prayer). Rick Tuma had the Joke of the Day. The Mystery Greeter was Terry Wakefield.

Pete Jouflas was celebrating his birthday this week. He said he had no embarrassing moments.

Clarence Ross is celebrating 9 years of marriage.

Rich Emerson had a happy buck because of his new colts. Jeff Karandjeff was happy because he got married. Guy Stephens paid a buck to comment on the Bruce Hill reception scheduled for next Tuesday at the Alpine Bank. Jeff Gumone also contributed a buck.

Karen Stealey was fined for no Kiwanis pin showing on her ad. Stan Hilkey paid a fine for no Kiwanis pin.

Randy Kirschbaum mentioned the golf tournament is to be on May 16 at Chipeta. He is looking for sponsors and participants.

Debra Pace said she would sew the patches on the banner.

Scott Hayduk announced that David Durham and the King and Trio will be doing a concert at the Avalon April 11.

Next week we will honor the new AKTION Club. It is for developmentally disabled adults. The Golden K club will also be here to have an interclub. Please Plan to attend.
