Today President-elect Mark Relph lead the meeting. He was standing in for Mike Moran who was standing in for President Rick Nisley. Mike went to New York and tripped over a black Labrador in the dark and broke his ankle. Rick just went.

The greeters today were Ken Maher and Bob Stratton. The songs of the day (appropriate for the Fourth of July) were You’re A Grand Old Flag and Yankee Doodle. Henry Langstaff lead the prayer. Bob Stratton had the joke of the day. It had to do with a hot air balloon and an engineer. Maurice Henscheid brought the thought for the day. It had to do with every kind of weather makes for a good day.

Guests today were introduced by the following: Jeff Freeland had Jim Hill with him. Jim has turned in an application for membership. Rita Crumpton was accompanied by her husband Tom. Tom Sheldon brought Randy Hampton with him. Randy Rexwinkle had Matt Guccini as his guest for the third time. Matt has also turned in an application for membership. Bob Stratton was with Gabe Zebral(sp). Gordon Harbert had one of his associates from Harbert Lumber as his guest. His name is Al Herbert.

Kristin Winn had a happy buck because her mother is moving to Grand Junction. Mike Stahl offered to cover that buck as Kristin’s mother is moving into Mike’s facility. Joe Breman had a Happy buck to mention the Israeli Scouts will be at the Avalon this Saturday evening. Tom Sheldon put a buck in the pot to talk about the help he got at St Mary’s Hospital with his recent ankle infection.

The speaker to day was Jon Mok-Lamme. He is the director of Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley Inc. He talked about the needs of the homeless in the valley and answered some tough questions.

Bob Hanson was celebrating his birthday this week.

Don Teets is celebrating 12 years of marriage and Pete Jouflas is celebrating 16 years of wedded bliss. Congratulations to all of you.

Brad Krebill was fined a buck for having his picture in the Daily Sentinel and not mentioning Kiwanis. He said he did mention Kiwanis in the Business Times.

Vernon Grey was the mystery greeter. He named Tom Sheldon as the last one he shook hands with. Tom won the pot.

Do not forget the blood drive. It is scheduled for July 24. There will be sign-up sheets next week. Or contact Lynne Sorlye to sign up to donate blood.

The program next week is Joe Breman. He will talk about Israel.

The Lube promotion for the benefit of Kiwanis is scheduled for July 19 at Katz Automotive. Not only is Steve Katz and his crew donating their time but Wal Mart, Sam’s Club, Auto Zone-Auto Parts, Napa Auto and Siegel Oil are donating the products to be sold. There will be free hot dogs and Pepsi there. Members of our club will help by passing them out.

Thanks to Steve for doing this good work. The cost to have your oil changed is only $14.95.
