Kiwanis Weekly

June 26, 2003

Things were pretty much back to normal today. President Rick Nisley said his wife is out of town and the way Rick was dressed I think that is probably right. Can you imagine a loud tie, a red jacket and khaki shorts? It sure got everyone’s attention.

The greeters today were Ron Lappi and Guy Stephens. Ron Lappi lead in prayer, the joke of the day was told by Guy Stephens and Ron Lappi brought the thought for the day. It was something about learning by experience.

The Good Old Summer Time was the song of the day. Rich Emerson tried to put some life into it but I think he gave up.

Guests included Jim Hill brought by Jeff Freeland, Rita Hoback had her daughter Sarah with her, Bill Byers was accompanied by his son, Bryce. Randy Rexwinkle also had a guest but I did not get his name, sorry.

Larry Beckner and Ron Sherman both contributed Happy Bucks. Larry for the successful Pancake Day even though he was absent and Ron because he had the $2500.00 check from Walmart for the benefit of Camp Kiwanis.

The program was introduced by Eleanor Walker. It was Kim Gizman from the Club Mid. She said this is a program for after school activities for middle school students. They are looking for money and help with the program. If you would like to help out contact Kim at The Department of Human Services.

Birthdays were celebrated this week by Morgan Butcher, Henry Langstaff, Bruce Rose, Peggy Page, Jeff Freedman and Darrel Mattivi.

Scott Hayduk has an anniversary this week. Congratulations to all celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.

The calendar for July is out. Thank you to LeAnn Zetmier for doing this job each month.

President Rick was very happy as there were gifts for the president today. Randy Kirschbaum said he had his wife bring back a gift from her trip to Czechoslovakia. It was a can of beer.

The D’Aponti’s brought back gifts from Cabo. They had a bottle of booze with a worm in it and a t-shirt. Wes told a long story about getting a supply of viagra but could not get it after all.

Bill Kistler had a 2 week trip to Alaska and brought back a wind-up toy plastic crab for our president.

Wendy McBride went to Maui and brought back coffee and a Lei. She said you cannot get lei’d by yourself but need to have some one else help you get lei’d.
