It was a day of transition. Out with the old and in with the new. After
we recognized the greeters: Janet Rowland and Martiey Miller we had the
pledge, the song of the day, This Land Is Your Land and the prayer by
Bill Byers.
Guests were introduced as follows: Pam Nicholls had her husband Rich
with her. Rich Nisley brought his wife Starr. Lois Becker had her
husband Butch at club and also introduced the incoming Lieutenant
Governor Dewey Dodge. Dewey is from Hotchkiss. He announced that the
Governor’s Dinner will be November 1 in Hotchkiss at the Senior Center.
He said the cost is only $25.00 per couple so make your plans to attend.
The meal is at 7PM with a get acquainted time at 6PM.
Bruce Dwire announced we need more to sign-up to help at Oktoberfest.
That is October 5 at 3rd and Main. He said we especially need
help later in the day and for clean-up. Be sure to plan to help out.
It was good to see Dennis Mitchell at club today. Maybe he came
because he had the thought for the day but whatever, welcome back,
Dennis. His thought for the day had to do with why is a pair of pants so
called when there is only one.
Sue Conry, Dale Hardy, Steve Thompson and Gordon Harbert are
celebrating birthdays this week. Only Sue has here to have the song said
to her. Happy Birthday to all of you.
The installation of new officers was today. First Lois Becker
recognized her board and gave them each a plaque. The outgoing board
consisted of Mark Relph, Bill Byers, Eleanor Walker, Giselle Smith, Mike
McDill, LeAnn Zetmier and Mike Moran. The outgoing officers were thanked
and each given a plaque. They consist of Lynn Sorlye as Secretary, Steve
Stranger as Treasurer, Pam Nicholls as Vice President and Rick Nisley as
President Elect. Lois also gave special recognition to Marilee Wood for
her outstanding help with the Resource Directory. Marilee not only
edited it but also got business to sponsor the cost of it . Good Job!

Lois also gave special recognition to Katie Steele for her help with
the Camp Kiwanis.
Rick Nisley gave a special plaque to Lois Becker for her year as
president.
Rich Emerson then conducted the installation of the new officers. The
New board consists of Randy Kirschbaum, Allison Shain, Mike Moran, LeAnn
Zetmier, Eleanor Walker and Mike McDill. There is one vacancy. More on
that later.
Steve Stranger is once again the Treasurer. Lynne Sorlye is Secretary
and Vice President is Mark Relph. The President Elect is Pam Nicholls
and the new president is Rick Nisley. The immediate past President is
Lois Becker.
President Rick told us of his plans for the upcoming year. He said
the meeting will start at 12:30 so there will be more time to socialize.
He said the programs will be shortened to about 12 minutes. He plans to
have a Joke of the Day. In fact today Rick told a joke. They are to be
clean!! Rick also plans to have an Explainer. It will be Lowell Shormann
or any old Geezer! Happy Bucks will be part of the program and the money
raised will go to help out with the Save the Children program and so
will the money raised by the gum ball machines.
He also asked for an upgrading of the gifts for the president and put
a ringer in the crowd to demonstrate. Bob Burger said he had been to
Hawaii and brought back a nice bottle of wine for the president. However
it looked like President Rick gave him the bottle to give back to him.
It Sounds Like a Gun Year!!
Look out for the mystery greeter who will pick the winner of the
drawing of the day. Today it was Don Teets and the money went to the
outgoing president Lois Becker.
Heidi Pankow announced the Central Key Club is having a car wash this
Saturday at Party Land. She said they meet every Tuesday at 11 AM.
Lois Becker announced there is an opening on the board of directors.
Orville Peterson has announced he would like to fill the position but if
you would like to be elected let Lois know. There will be open
nominations next week.
The Program next week is League of Women Voters on Ballot Issues .
