Kiwanis Weekly

October 31, 2002

It was a Halloween Meeting. Our president was dressed in short pants and strange shirt etc. He said it was a Nebraska thing but I thought he looked more like Little Lord Faunteloy. There were several others in costume. I noticed "Big Nose" Emerson, Orville Boge, Stephanie Tuin and Kristin Winn as well as the Central High Key Club.

Greeters today were Margaret Simonson, Bob Colony and Mike McDill. Margaret also lead the prayer. The song of the day was Shine On Harvest Moon. It was so "good" we sang it twice. President Rick Nisley lead the meeting and the pledge.

Guests today included the following: Ron Lappi introduced our speakers. They were councilmen Jim Spehar and Dennis Kirtland. Mike Levan was with Rick Nisley. Ron Tech and Toby Cummins were guests of Jamie Lummis. Heidi Pankow presented the Key club members from Central High. The Key club later passed around containers so we could contribute to their Trick or Treat for UNICEF. The money is to be used for the fight against Vitamin A Deficiency. Jerry Cooper had Janice Ward with him today. Janice is running for County Clerk. Brad Krebill said he wanted to present Scott Heron one last time as a guest. Scott was inducted later in the meeting.

President Rick Nisley inducted Scott Heron into the club. Rick is his sponsor. Scott said he is married and has 2 children. He works as a Financial Consultant. He likes to Barbeque and golf. Welcome aboard Scott.

Bruce Hill will be handling the indoctrination on new members. The time and place to be announced later.

Rich Emerson said next week the vacancies on the board of directors and the Vice Presidency will be filled. Mike Moran has been nominated for the Vice President and Orville Peterson and Henry Langstaff are the nominees for the board of directors.

Bruce Hill said he attended the Charter Dinner for the New Golden K club and he said he gave them a gift from our club. He announced he had given them Camp Kiwanis. This brought a large response from our club.

If you need to have your picture taken for the membership roster there will be pictures taken in a couple of weeks.

The Christmas party is scheduled for December 7 at Tiara Rado. The music will be brought by Chuck and Jeanne Thomas. Make plans to attend. More on that later.

Maurice Henscheid is celebrating his birthday this week. He was born in Burley, Idaho and he said his most embarrassing moment was when he locked himself out of his pickup 3 days running.

Bob Colony brought the Thought For The Day. There was no mystery greeter so our newest member, Scott Heron, won the pot per president Rick.

The program was about the cities long range planning and how they are going to spend our money. Jim Spehar and Dennis Kirtland brought the presentation. They were introduced by Ron Lappi.

Mike McDill brought the Joke of the Day. He said all one really needs to be a mechanic is WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it won’t move use the WD-40 and if it moves and you don’t want it to use the Duct Tape.

Happy Bucks were given by Orville Boge, Rick Nisley and Bob Burger. Rick Tuma also had money to contribute.

Next week the program is The Commons by Mike Stahl. See you then.

Henry Langstaff – Bulletin Editor.
