Pam Nicholls was our acting president today. She needs to get in some practice as year after next she will be president. You did a good job, Pam.

Lowell Shormann asked the prayer today. The song of the day was April Showers. Dwayne Jackson lead the introduction to the chorus and lead the song. The clubs rendition of April Showers caused Lowell to ask the Lord that we all improve our singing.

Steve Castor was one of the greeters. I am sorry I did not catch the name of the second and I was already in the room before they arrived.

A new member was inducted. Heidi Pankow sponsored Deborah Pace. She told us about all her activities. I hope she finds time for all of them as she is mother, wife, active in partners, makes loans and shoots a rifle. Welcome Deborah.

Mike Moran brought News Weather and Sports. Larry Beckner brought the thought for the day. Among other thoughts he said it is the actions of 99% of the attorneys that make the others look bad. Mike Moran was awarded the drawing because he volunteered to head up the Knowledge Bowl team.

Bill Byers had asked for someone to take over the Knowledge Bowl because he said he did not have time. The other members which have agreed to help out are Alan Friedman and Pam Nicholls husband.

Guests today included Don Pililski introduced by Mike Moran, Bobbie Kline who was part of the program and a guest of Eleanor Walker. Kristin Winn had Michelle Smith as her guest. Heidi Pankow had Ron Powers with her.

Katie Steele gave a report of the oversight Committee. She had a spread sheet showing what moneys have come in and spent especially relating to Camp Kiwanis. There are some deposits received for the Camp this summer and more expected. By the way, next week the program relates to Camp Kiwanis. Plan to attend if you can.

There was a Camp Kiwanis meeting held last Wednesday night and the next one is scheduled for Wednesday April 24th at 5:30 PM at the Bray Education Building at 7th and North Avenue.

Bob Colony announced there have been three inter-clubs promoting Camp Kiwanis. They are at Delta, Montrose and Battlement Mesa. There is another planned for Glenwood Springs later this month. If you would like to attend give Bob a call. Not only are the promoting the camp but also the upcoming district convention which is to be held in August here in Grand Junction.

Chuck Wanebo announced the upcoming election. If you would like to run for the board of directors contact him. The election is planned to be held April 18.

Lynn Sorlye was fined for not mentioning Kiwanis in her article in the Denver Post last week. Also President Lois was fined in absentia because she did not mention Kiwanis when she was on local TV promoting the Library fund.

Rick Tuma announced the Red Crawford Scholarship fund is now at $91,763. 10% of that amount has been designated for scholarships this year. There are 6 $1250 scholarships plus a grant to U-tech for $917 and $759 for Student Aid.

Rick Nisley announced the pancake days are progressing. There will be info on the internet soon.

Mike Moran and Heidi Pankow said the membership drive is in full swing. Plan to bring a prospective new member. You will not be charged for them if they are legitimate candidates for membership and also the charge to join is reduced to $25 from $50 until May 15.

The speakers today were Janet Rowland and Bobbie Kline. They were introduced by Eleanor Walker. The subject was Child Abuse prevention.

Pete Jouflas is celebrating a birth day this week. Congratulations, Pete.
